How beautiful Iran looks as it burns. What an incredible sight 👏😍

In this context, social media users shared a video claiming it showed fires breaking out inside Iran. However, an investigation by the Fatabyyano team found that the claim was misleading and that the clip was old and taken out of its temporal and geographical context.

A Reverse Image Search of frames from the circulating video showed that the clip is old and has circulated online since January 29, 2025.
Continuing Reverse Image Search, the results led to a report published by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti on January 29, 2025, documenting the incident under the title, quoted verbatim: “Fire at the Sibur-Kstovo petrochemical plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region”.

Also, a keyword search uncovered a report published by Reuters on January 31,

The footage in the claimed video matches exactly the recording published by the Forbes website on January 29, 2025, whose report description stated, verbatim: “Late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, Ukrainian drones struck the Nizhny Novgorod oil refinery in Kstovo, in central Russia, 520 miles from the front line in northern Ukraine.”

The clip's initial publication could also be traced to the WarTranslated channel on Telegram on January 29, 2025, which stated in its description, verbatim: “Ukrainian defense forces hit Lukoil's Nizhny Novgorod oil refinery, setting it ablaze as shown in the footage”, confirming that the clip was filmed in Russia and has no connection to events in Iran.
